Dr. Fender grew up in a small town in Manitoba, Canada. This is the place he forged many friendships that still stand today. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science with Honors, Dr. Fender moved to Saskatoon, Canada to attend the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. After four cold years in Saskatoon, he decided to deepen his knowledge of veterinary medicine and moved to Toronto, Canada where he completed a rotating small animal internship. His post doctorate learning wasn’t complete, so Dr. Fender moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and completed a surgical internship that allowed him to gain an abundance of experience in small animal surgical techniques. It's in Las Vegas where he met his future wife, Cari, whom had just graduated from UNLV Dental School. They moved to Tucson in 2010 after purchasing St. Mary's from its founders. After owning St. Mary's for a number of years, Dr. Fender and his wife Cari decided it was time to spend more time with their family of three children and moved to Canada. Here the children did enough fishing, swimming at the lake, boating and of course tobogganing and making snowmen to make any child happy with delight! Dr. Fender and his family returned to Tucson in the fall of 2021 and rejoined St. Mary's Animal Clinic on a part time basis, with a large emphasis on surgical and dental procedures.
